“Music Of Cosmos ”
Batik Art is both an art and a craft. It is becoming very popular internationally and is being recognized as a wonderfully creative medium. I paint Contemporary Batik, which is different from Traditional and Formal styles. My method entails the following: First I compose the painting and paint it on the fabric ;Then selected area are blocked out by brushing hot wax on them ;Then the painting is dyed a specific color and the waxed area resists the dye remains not dyed ;Then wax is removed from another area of the painting and is dyed with another color ; This procedure of removing wax and redyeing is repeated until all the selected dyes are added ; When the final Batik Painting is finished, it is thoroughly dewaxed ; The dyes are then "fixed" to prevent color bleeding ; The finished Batik is then ironed and is now ready for sale or for exhibiting in a gallery ; Batik paintings have historically been the most expressive and the most subtle of all of the "resist painting methods." Over the years new materials and techniques have been developed for Batik Paintings. I have incorporated them and have developed a unique process, which results in vibrant colors and artistic realism.
My latest series of Batiks are named MUSIC OF THE COSMOS. The flowing vibrant colors burst like music from the classics. The fish in these tropical waters are like musical notes that are swimming across the pages of musical composition.
